From seemingly impossible brain-teasers, to seasonal puzzles, people of all ages love a good riddle.

Children love to find the answers to things, and the best riddles engage them in a fun way - which is why they love them so much.  Little riddles are great for kids who are easily distracted as concentration and reasoning skills are developed when the answer to a riddle isn't always as simple as it first appears.

These hard, not-so-hard, and easy riddles for kids will provide hours of enjoyment, whilst also challenging their brain.

Can you guess the answers to these simple riddles for kids that have held top-spots on the list of favourite children's riddles for decades?

1.Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious; how do you spell it? Answer: I T.

2.Name the invention that helps you look through walls? Answer: Windows.

3.Jack rode into town on Friday. Two days later he rode home from town on Friday. How is that possible?  Answer: His horse is called Friday.

4.If two’s company, and three’s a crowd, what are four and five? Answer: Nine.

5.There’s a word in the dictionary that is spelled incorrectly.  Which word is it? Answer: Incorrectly.

6.What goes up but never down? Answer: Age.

7.Which football player has the biggest helmet in a team? Answer: The one with the biggest head.

8.My pants pocket is empty, but it has something in it; what?  Answer: A hole.

9.The more of this there is, the less you can see. What is it? Answer: Darkness.

10.What has 13 hearts but no organs? Answer: A deck of playing cards.

These short riddles for kids are great little teasers to get kids started with.

11.What gets wetter the more it dries?  Answer: A towel.

12.What has four legs but can’t walk?  Answer: A table.

13.I have a bark but I do not bite. What am I?  Answer: A tree.

14.What has to be broken before you can use it?  Answer: An egg.

15.When things go wrong, what can you always count on?  Answer: Your fingers.

16.I have a bottom at the top. What am I?  Answer: Legs.

17.How can a leopard change its spots? Answer: By standing in a different place.

18.David’s parents have three sons. Two are called Snap and Crackle. What is the third son called? Answer: David.

19.If you take one apple from a pile of nine apples, how many apples would you have? Answer: The one apple you took.

20.If you throw white stone into the Red sea, what happens to it? Answer: It gets wet.

Older kids might want to take their puzzle-solving prowess to the next level and tackle some tricky (but still fun!) riddles.

21.Which three days come one after another, but aren’t any of the seven days of the week? Answer: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

22.What has four eyes but can’t see? Answer: Mississippi.

23.I am an odd number. Take away a letter and I become even. What number am I? Answer: Seven.

24.What happens once in a lifetime, twice in a moment, but never in one hundred years? Answer: The letter “M”.

25.How many seconds are there in a year? Answer: 12; there is a 2nd in each month.

26.A word I know, six letters it contains, remove one letter and 12 remains, what is it? Answer: Dozens.

27.What begins with an E but and usually only has one letter, but sometimes has more letters? Answer: Envelope.

28.What can you break by saying its name?  Answer: Silence.

29.What do you throw out when you want to use it, but take in when you don't want to use it? Answer: An anchor.

30.What room can no one enter or leave? Answer:  A mushroom.

These easy riddles with answers are really good riddles for kids who love animals.

31.What does a cat have that no other animals has? Answer: Kittens.

32.What always sleeps with its shoes on? Answer: A horse.

33.What can honk but doesn’t have a horn? Answer: A goose.

34.What has a horn but can’t honk? Answer: A rhinoceros.

35.What two types of key don’t open doors? Answer: Donkeys and monkeys.

36.How far can a fox run into the woods? Answer: Only halfway, otherwise it is running out of the woods.

37.What kind of can doesn't need a can-opener? Answer: A pelican.

38.What type of animal is the best baseball player? Answer: A bat.

39.What animal should you never trust? Answer: A cheetah.

40.Which fish came first? Answer: The goldfish.

Short riddles aren't always as easy as they seem at first glance; you may need to read these short riddles more than once!

41.The more you take away, the larger I become. What am I? Answer: A hole.

42.I have a neck, but no head. What am I? Answer: A bottle.

43.I have hands, but I can’t clap. What am I? Answer: A clock.

44.You can catch me, but you can’t throw me. What am I? Answer: A cold.

45.I will always arrive, but never today. What am I? Answer: Tomorrow.

46.I am full of holes, but I can still hold water. What am I? Answer: A sponge.

47.I always get answers, but never ask questions. What am I? Answer: A doorbell.

48.I have lots of rings, but I don’t have fingers. What am I? Answer: A telephone.

49.I go through towns and over hills, but I never move. What am I? Answer: A road.

50.I travel all over the world, but I stay in one spot. What am I? Answer: A stamp.
